Cheryl Cole Gets Axed

So Cheryl Cole got axed from U.S. X Factor. Despite being sad over this I can't deny that I'm surprised. As someone who spent three years in the North of England I know first hand how difficult the Geordie accent is to understand. Most people in southern England experience significant difficulty understanding it- if they understand it at all. That's why I was surprised when I heard that Cheryl would be joining U.S. X Factor and not altering her accent. Although I appreciate and love that she's sticking to her roots I knew that her stint on U.S. X Factor would not last. Her accent is just too difficult to understand. Particularly when you consider that she'll be talking over a crowd or other judges.

I find it incredibly odd that Simon Cowell even suggested her for the role. He had to know, after all of his time in the U.S., that people simply wouldn't understand her. I wonder why therefore he suggested her. If he didn't want to harm her reputation why did he simply suggest that she TRY out the gig rather than stating that she was a judge, particularly when she failed so quickly.

A large majority of her appeal in the U.K. is not related to her talent or even her appearance but rather to her story. She grew up effectively in the public eye. Starting her career on a reality program. Living out failed relationships, court dates, trials, humiliation and redemption under the media glare. However, none of that was known in the U.S.; moreover, her singing career was totally unknown to boot.

My question therefore is this: is Simon Cowell a great Svengali then we all thought? Has he sacrificed his past favorite (Cheryl) or his current favorite (Nicole) OR is this intended to allow Cheryl to rise higher in the estimates of the British public, they do love to see her fall and then pick herself up again.

My final note is that this will bring nothing but attention to the U.S. The removal of an outsider in favor of a national favorite and home bred talent and the increase in publicity and interest for the show. Cheryl on the other hand has suffered a public blow in a country that she was hoping to conquer, this is now the first thing that most Americans will know about her- that she was fired by Simon Cowell. She will now return to the U.K. with her tail between her legs after publicly quitting the U.K. X Factor- a show that turned her from a nation's sweetheart to a super star and gifted her with a platform for her solo career, and announcing intentions to leave the U.K. completely and relocate to the U.K and essentially beg for the approval and love of a country she left as a star.

Personally I think if it ain't broke don't fix it. She got greedy in looking for fame in the States and turned her backs on the people who made her who she is, her U.K. fans. One must only look to the success of Nadine Cole's solo career to see the results of such actions.

Cheryl's gotten tubbers! The Daily Mail agrees with me!!!

So today the Daily Mail published photos of Cheryl today which were taken on Saturday upon her arrival at Chicago airport for further U.S. X Factor auditions.

The article (which can be found here ) notes that Cheryl has put on a considerable amount of weight since her arrival in the U.S. Apparently the X Factor executives have already addressed the issue and she has been hooked up with Tracy Anderton (the personal trainer to Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Aniston and Madonna) and a stylist, a result of her recent style flops (even Paula Abdul has managed to out style her in the fashion stakes).

Her weight had previously plummeted to around 6 stone last year after her battle with maria; therefore, to some extent the gain is most definitely required.... although even the most ardent fan would have to say its getting slightly excessive at this point.

Cheryl Cole: An apology and explanation to the people of the United States

So I was reading the news today and a new photo of Cheryl Cole arriving for the U.S. X Factor Auditions popped up.

And I felt seriously underwhelmed. The sad thing is that I ♥ ♥ ♥ Cheryl. I confess that I own ALL the Girls Aloud albums AND B- sides. Note: it speaks volumes as to how much I love Cheryl Cole that I am admitting this as I am a thirteen year old girl, nor am I a gay man covered in glitter.

I love her personality, I tolerate her music, I tolerate (and even sometimes enjoy) her fashion choices (notoriously and consistently off the mark), she's gorgeous, was a FABULOUS judge on the U.K. X Factor (mentoring three acts to triumph) and is one of the most beloved women in the U.K.

However not only is her fashion choice of the mark here but WHAT is going on with her body?! I feel like I should apologize to all of the people in the U.S. as I feel like they have been the victims of false advertising. They were told that they were getting a stunning geordie and instead they have got a bit of a tubby, frump of a geordie. It's likely that they will not be able to understand Cheryl; however, now they cannot even take solace in the fact that they can stare at her. Moreover, not only has she gained weight her fashion choices have hit an ALL TIME low. See below...

I mean Paula Abdul actually managed to outshine Cheryl. I would leave it at that did I not feel that I need to touch on the fact that apparently she's turned into a massive proponent of chipmunk cheeks of late.... let me just state... NOT a good look.

I feel what adds insult to injury is that if I were uninformed (on the world of Cheryl) I would assume that her promo images had been photoshopped to hell. I think that they may have been slightly but I would like to show you what she used to look like! I promise she was STUNNING.

I have to say although she looks 'better' in these photos, I HATE HATE HATE the hair extensions. She looks like littler mermaid.... but not as nice. Cheryl has never rocked hair this long and in my opinion.... it looks ridonculous.

And here is the Cheryl I knew and ed, as she used to look!

So I know that she's pretty skinny in these photos BUT if you know me then you know that I ♥ ♥ ♥ a girl with a bit of bone.
